Raven -

We should all be giving to others rather than giving in to Ego. Good post.

Oh so true!  Unfortunately, you are correct in your description of the whirlwind of buying tons of things & racking up tons of debt along with it.  If only folks could/would see beyond the things & illusion...what a wonderful & transformative thing that would be!

The madness that is the Holiday Season...
I think about this every year... had a chat with my son about it yesterday (he's 20)...  wonder every year how far the uber-commecialism will go, how big it will get, before it runs its course, and is generally released as an archaic and obsolete and futile notion...  This has only been a tradition for a century, this great drive to give and recieve extravagantly as a Christmas celebration.  It is a sort of rip-tide of wrappings and ribbons and discarded packaging and dollar bills...  and credit card bills...

Thank you.  You're absolutely correct...we need to go back to the principal that it's the thought behind the gift that really counts.  -- Why are we really giving the gift in the first place?...to celebrate, to bring joy...many reasons, but all of them are something that cannot be contained within a box with bows & ribbons.

Beautiful sentiments. Would that we would all heed this message and make the decision to truly give to each other.
