Thanks, Guys.

Yes, the title was to get attention.  I started out pissed and by the end I talked myself out of it.  But I kept the title because the irony was just too delicious.

Saul -- you really are areligious if you think that Mary's birth was "virgin" [contemporary meaning] in nature.  Not even close.  That's part of my beef with the Church of Rome.  They friggin' lie.  Big lies.  "Dead people can walk the Earth after being hung out like a piece of beef jerky," lies.

Not that I don't believe in a supreme being after some fashion...and I don't want Him or Her to come kick my ass for believing the way I do...but I've really had it.  They drilled a hole in my head and dumped a bunch of bad information in there, some of which screwed up my sex life for a good long while, and they expect their laiety to function like something other than robots.  Every conman in the world can attach themselves to this decidely, "Christian," hole and take us whereever they want us to go.  That's how strong the mind control and brainwashing is.

If you're a Catholic or a Christian, I apologize for my insensitivity.  I once believed as you do.  It is rather shocking.  But, once acceptance of the facts of the matter are put before you, you will grow and change to become the human being that God intended you to become.  Not some victim of a gigantic lie that is just so painfully obvious to me that I can't keep my mouth shut about it anymore.

Good post, Volaar. Being non-religious, I can't share your frustration at

retreats, but it would seem to me that evidence of sexual behavior, gay or otherwise, should take a back seat (no pun intended) to the more pressing issue of spiritual enlightenment.  Bettering oneself rarely, if ever, involves sex.  Ask Mary, Jesus' mom.

Here's one queer who agrees with you.
I'm gay but I agree:  spriritual retreats should be abstemious.  I do disagree, however, with you putting "The Trouble with Gays" in your title.  As you said, they should be abstemious for all involved.  Your specific targeting of gays seems to me you still harbour some residual delusions about the "essence" of homosexuality.  Or maybe you just put that in your title to get attention .  It worked.

sink the arms industry

"if we told everyone the truth we could all live together in peace and harmony and that would just sink the arms industry."

The irony is the only thing you can do about all this is nothing because as soon as you ernter it you are part of it.

It took me years and years and years to work that out (How old am I you ask?)

By centering and mastering self those around orbit into your alignment even if only just for a short while.

That is the crux of it.

I believe that so much now I am not even frustrated.
