Whacky,
This post about your dad reminds me an awful lot of my great grandpa. For the most part, we were inseparable when I was able to visit him. When I wasn't, he always got upset and immediately asked either my mom or my grandmother why I wasn't with them and where I was.
I remember when my Nana died...Mom asked me if I wanted to attend her wake. I couldn't bring myself to go...I couldn't stand the thought of watching him cry for his wife and know that I could never give her back to him.
So, mom and grandma went to her wake without me. When she got home, mom told me grandpa kept asking for me. Mom explained why I couldn't be with him, and he seemed to understand...But mom told me he was heart broken.
When he died, my grandmother came to me and told me, "He loved you very much. He wanted you to know that. He always felt better when you were with him."
Your mom and dad were very blessed and fortunate to have you as their daughter...

Whacky46,
What a neat post!
I enjoyed reading about your Dad.
I lost my Dad in Feb. '99 to a medical misdiagnosis, so anything about Dads really get to me.
God bless you.
