Great post! Though I am not afraid to die, I do not look forward to not partaking in some of the pleasures of this life with my wife. But of course, there will be other pleasures at the next stop to learn to enjoy.

"until my death I will wander on," this is a quote from a song.I see death much like jomei explained, an awakening . I have no fear of death, I spend much time thinking and death to me seems all the knocking is over and the doors are open.

In a way, I guess death is just a dramatic word for "waking up". "Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists." We don't have to physically die to peel away a layer of the illusion onion.

Avant-Death is another dimension to what truly goes on on the other side. I dont think there is any escape in death.

For whatever reason, the child has been traumatized and merely wants resolution. I think that once it is in the open, we see the language we hold onto for what it is...an attempt to find security in an insecure place.

Reminds me of my favorite Woody Allen quote
I'm not afraid to die, I just don't want to be there when it happens.

I am afraid of death...
since my childhood...afraid of the coffin, the dead body, the whole thing surrounding death...it is haunting me because i have sth important to achieve before i die...i don't wanna die yet.

Yes, memories are good, as long as they are not substituted for the present moment.

How can I be afraid of something unknown? Fear is always in relation to the known.

I'm not afraid to die.  It's not that I fantasize about dying, but to some degree, I look forward to it; to the knowing; to the peace in it.  Death to me is simply a rebirth.

So true, the fear of death is the fear of being nothing. I never really thought it out that way before.  Excellent post.

I believe in reincarnation
and so I believe that our core essence never dies. Those quirks of character may be lost between one life and the next but the core will continue.

This blog lays out nicely why people fear death and what they should really fear instead.
