To take it in another direction: At Hoover Dam (and at all other manmade dams, for that matter), the outflows are tightly monitored and controlled. In a beaver dam, there are no controls; outflows and overflows are at the whim of nature - just as conservatives are in favor of free and open debate. Thanks for reading!

Yes you are right about the beaverdam leaking a little, the god. But have you evere seen the plume of generator spent water exiting the Hoover dam? And does this huge "Turbine leakage" not do magical work giving us power, to create those machines of war which the right is so fond of. Simplistic analogies only work for simple people.
