Allow me to chip in . . . .
I pledge moral support to your purchase of a more powerful telescope!

Xeno-x - very good -- a post I could have written myself (or wish I had)
I especially liked the point you make about Earth being such a miniscule part of such a vast universe and the absurdity of an omnipotent being holding such a fixation with this one little portion. It encapsulates my thoughts after the first time I looked through a high powered telescope.

Thank you for your post. Altho' I might not agree with the sarcasm ( well, you know me, the perfect gentelman! LOL) I do take you point about the difficulty, or impossibility of believing in God and religion.
Strangely enough, I posted a piece on the absurdity of a God create universe, and Man created in God's image yesterday. Or was it the day before? Can't recall right now, and can't be bothered to go and look.
I'm having a lot of pain and discomfort lately, so am unable to sit blogging for long

i do not reject Christianity
in fact, I embrace its ultimateprinciples.
i reject the absurd and invalid
you see, i see god also as a rational being (man was made in his [mental] image, you know)
and, as a rational being, this god would not throw out absurdities that are totally unbelievable so that reasoning and rational people wqould be the ones condemned whle those who fall hook line and sinker for the irrational would be saved.

Question for you:
is your conclusion in this post that if something seems unreasonable or absurd, than it must not be true? If so, that is a dangerous gamble to take on matters of life and death. You must agree with the rationality of my statement. You must honestly examine the source of your rejection of Chrsitianity
