opdd about these Christians
they don't want to hear the other side
and yet they want to make certain their side is heard, no matter how invalid.
they are wanting to besiege the infidels.
is anybody selling hot oil to pour off the city walls?

Vane - sadly, incedents such as this are just the tip of the iceberg
There is a growing movement to re-write and discredit a lot of what science has discovered simply to reconcile reality with Genesis.

hahaha, there are some interesting whackos out there, and many of them use religion to spread their nonsense. I feel for those children, because you're definitely right that nonsense leaves lasting scars.

JanesOpinion - in this particular case the exact method of dating was not
covered in great detail. As most sizeable museums of natural history with the corresponding budget to do so will use a variety of dating methods, it is safe to assume that the big three were used in; "radiocarbon dating" "obsidian hydration" and "chronological corroboration". Yes there have been a few times in recent history when radiocarbon dating has outright embarrassed itself, but understand why this is so. The age reference parameters of carbon content, have been present in the subject material, either artificially induced or as an extremely rare random occurance. Carbon is the key element in this measurement, materials that contain high carbon such as petrified charcoal from pre-histoic campfires etc., are routinely dated very accurately. Accuracy of dating diminishes with the subject material's lack of carbon content but no credible archeologist relies entriely on one dating method.
Also understand that the versions of these stories you are hearing on a regular basis are pure propaganda. Zeroing in on a few obscure failures of a dating method without telling the entire story is nothing more than a smokescreen to further an agenda.

I'm glad you were "veggying" out in front of the TV rather than "chippy-ing" out or "M&My-ing" or "pretzely-ing" out. Oops, errr, I guess I missed the point of your diatribe.
But regarding the dating of artifacts, how accurate is carbon dating? (which I would assume is what they used to determine the 80,000 year old artifact) I've heard varying accounts as to its accuracy, particularly as some have tested items from today's world only to be told they're thousands of years old. Any thoughts?

mikebrown - lately it's been a little worse
When young people come at you with a sparkly clean newly minted brainwashing, it is understandable. Lately however, several middle aged people, that should know better, have shown me just how hopeless people are in terms of wanting to make their fabricated beliefs real. These are people in my age group who make me ask how an individual can come to the same level of reasoning as that of a 20 year old at 50 or older? Are they retarded? In a very real sense, yes they are retarded. Socially and developmentally, but this would not be a problem if they could just keep their mindless shit to themselves.
