- Go to My country was built on Christian ideals? ---- well no, not really
mikebrown - exactly - despite the inherent weaknesses of our societies

this country was founded with the same intentions
as every other territory in the existence of humans: shallow self interest. genocide, intolerance, and all the other ingredients of the steaming cess pool we call a society were just by-products of self-interest and greed. just look at some of the consititutions original policies; all men are created equal...but you can't vote or take part in any political processes unless you are a white male land owner. pretty convenient rules made by...guess who? white male land owners. self interest.
but even considering all that, i STILL prefer a country based on shallow selfishness over a country based on a bullshit faith. at least i understand greed.

Our present leaders certainly don't base their policies on Christian values
unless Christian values include judgement, exclusion and ignorance.

Wow
And here I thought our countries where built on the ground.
Shows what I know.
I can only hope that "Christian and non-Christian values, attempted genocide, greed and money as well as a number of other practices and prevailing attitudes" is sturdier than swamp land.

Xeno-x - people conveniently forget that it was the escape from religious
persecution and economic factors that motivated people to come to North America.
