I wish the school had done more dictation for my middle son. Maybe they would have picked up on his dyslexia long before it became a problem.

As I have mentioned before, you are an inspired and inspiring teacher!
By the way, I am currently reading (using the word loosely) Lord of the Rings-- in French!  So I can appreciate the challenge of getting real sense and emotional meaning when reading in a second language!  The words have totally different emotional impact, intended for a French mindset, and to me, struggling just to understand without actually mentally translating, it is still an exercise in the head, and not in the heart or gut at all!

I totally agree, kingmi.  If they never get to application, they have missed the boat.
