MayB
Good thinking, MayB.  Actually what I need to do to begin with is tell people I'm writing a book.

I think you can say it is meant for any sector. Everytime you speak with someone about it make it sound like the book was written for them

Pat-B

I think I'd be better off using a clothes horse rather than that pale horse of a publishing company, Pat_B.  Your comments made me laugh and cheered me up no end.  Thank you very much.

clearly your bookseller is misplaced

she should fit right into any bureaucracy of the type that wants the client/customer to do all their work for them... If you decide to do your own marketing through that pale horse of a publisher, then all you can do is:

Tell them the naked truth: your book is aimed at the young at heart who want their funny bones tickled, anyone literate from the age of 12 up, or who can read at that level.  Or, if she's locked into particular demographic categories, your readership would be the 18-45 upwardly mobile fashionistas and mistas who have a sharp sense of what's the real deal on the street, in the happenin' clubs, and on the political scene. In other words, your book is bling for the brain...  or some such bull.
