Very thought-provoking post and astute observations about happiness. My favorite part: attempt to create more of what could not have been will reap more unhappiness. Nice entry.

I so much agree with BrightIrish on this. Absolute happiness is the ideal, but in life there will always be something that causes sadness, thus we need to dwell on what is good and pure, not on the negative.  Yet, in my experience, in times of sorrow, it takes a conscience effort to dwell on the positive. Thought provoking post.  You are an excellent writer and I appreciate your sharing this.***  How is your precious bundle this morning?  Give your little miracle, Noah, a gentle hug from me today.  I am so happy for you and yours.

Avant-The key to happiness is not what you would recognize, but what you might remember about recognition. I like this thought. Thanks for sharing.

It's nice that you mentioned a fire. I think it's a great metaphor to describe the Now.

I agree
about casting cares and worries aside - that overwhelming feeling of freedom. I think that happiness lost can only be seen as necessary ashes once a phoenix has arisen

I like to think of it like the flickering fire -
each moment is a one-off, so if we had more the stance of the witness to this wonderful fire, we might learn a different way to enjoy it. Hapiness would be broader than our preferences. Another provocative post.

Well, you can rest assured that I have experienced it if it is along those lines. The most liberating thing you can do is apologize. Take responsibility for your actions and not try to hide them. It seems to grow larger and more formidable the more you run from it. Email me if you wish to discuss it.

i cannot talk about it on the net out of discretion...let's say that it might have consequences...i wanted to retaliate against somebody and it turned against me...i know that was stupid and i regret it by now...

Well, that depends on what kind of trouble we are talking about here. Is the law after you?

I did something stupid and put myself into trouble (can't enter into details), but do you have a spiritual answer for that kind of problem?

Yes. Happiness appears to be more about an attitude of giving and being grateful for what is there. Even when we are dealt a blow, we can be glad for the lesson contained within it.

Hi.. I think that complete happiness is unattainable as we jorney though life. We are human with our likes and dislikes and worries. I have learned that the more I love the happier I am and I hold onto and treasure the moments of happiness that I have because I know that life is going to bring me sadness and it is then that I will need to remember and focus on the pleasures.
