why don't you just lead a new crusade -- go to war against the muslims

then all of us reasonable people can remain back here saying good riddance

Why do Liberals insist on rewriting everything???

So what is the truth about the Crusades?

Scholars are still working some of that out. But much can already be said with certainty. For starters, the Crusades to the East were in every way defensive wars. They were a direct response to Muslim aggression—an attempt to turn back or defend against Muslim conquests of Christian lands.

Christians in the eleventh century were not paranoid fanatics. Muslims really were gunning for them. While Muslims can be peaceful, Islam was born in war and grew the same way. From the time of Mohammed, the means of Muslim expansion was always the sword. Muslim thought divides the world into two spheres, the Abode of Islam and the Abode of War. Christianity—and for that matter any other non-Muslim religion—has no abode. Christians and Jews can be tolerated within a Muslim state under Muslim rule. But, in traditional Islam, Christian and Jewish states must be destroyed and their lands conquered. When Mohammed was waging war against Mecca in the seventh century, Christianity was the dominant religion of power and wealth. As the faith of the Roman Empire, it spanned the entire Mediterranean, including the Middle East, where it was born. The Christian world, therefore, was a prime target for the earliest caliphs, and it would remain so for Muslim leaders for the next thousand years.

With enormous energy, the warriors of Islam struck out against the Christians shortly after Mohammed's death. They were extremely successful. Palestine, Syria, and Egypt—once the most heavily Christian areas in the world—quickly succumbed. By the eighth century, Muslim armies had conquered all of Christian North Africa and Spain. In the eleventh century, the Seljuk Turks conquered Asia Minor (modern Turkey), which had been Christian since the time of St. Paul. The old Roman Empire, known to modern historians as the Byzantine Empire, was reduced to little more than Greece. In desperation, the emperor in Constantinople sent word to the Christians of western Europe asking them to aid their brothers and sisters in the East.

one more thing
altmuslim has answered your questions.

before you jump to conclusions, read his blog.

my point is you are wrong.

Christianity has probably killed tens of thousands more people than has Mohammedanism.

you preach peace and then stab people in the back.
the history of Christianity is atrocious.

and your statements are helping to perpetuate the hatred that is steadily developing.

read your damn history.

western powers conquered and exploited the Arab world. The U.S. backed Israel and the Shah of Iran, among other things.

they have a right to hate us. We have done so much damage to them.

get off your Christian high horse.

preach peace or get off the podium.

Look Xeno-x.....

First,if you have a point go for it....but your personal attacks  aren't welcome here.......perhaps you can play double solitaire with glenb.

After culling through the garbage.... I will address one point....

"You really are into perpetuating a worldwide culture war aren't you? "

Not at all....it's the Islamofascists that are hell bent on making the world an Islamic paradise..... I am into to supporting those who are working at stopping that goal and the Western deaths that result from their efforts......and frankly,  I don't really care what you think of that.......have a good one!

Actually, not all the Moors were expelled from Spain by Isabella and Ferdinand.

The final expulsion occured under Philip 111, in 1609

There is at least one Muslim on Blogit.

altmuslim

all you have to do is go to his blog and ;ask him.

or you can email him with your hypocritical, biased, exclusivist Christian propaganda.

I get tired of this.

Corbin

Just keep these sorts of posts coming. Maybe, just maybe you will be a light in this dark subject. They have been as they are long before they had a name or copyed a religion and  called it theirs, transforming it to represent the hatred of the other half of Abraham.

This is the result of the trip through the wilderness by a Mother (Hagar) with a child driven from the home of Abraham. God that day identified this boy as the future father of the tribes of the Wild One. This is the waring peoples who will go until the end of this world as we know it. Why is this so difficult to see?

Corbin_Dallas - I once stated that I had never met a person with an Islamic
background that did not hold a least a moderate degree of sympathy for Bin Laden and his ilk. Of course I was chastised for saying such a thing but here it is 4+ years after 911 and I can still make the same claim. There are a couple of inescapable truths that a politically correct mindset cannot sweep under the carpet. Historically, the religion of Islam has never lived in peace with it's neighbours and the desire for this religion to make all on this earth it's adherants will never completely diminish.

Corbin_Dallas, What amazes me is the short-memoried people among us, leaders included.  Remember what the three things that were accomplished by the marriage of Spain's Ferdinand and Isabel?

1.  Combining their two kingdoms unified Spain,

2.  Launching Columbus invested in the future,

3.  Driving the last of Europe's Moors from the Iberian Peninsula made them safe.

This last was the remnants of centuries of islamic influence derived from what historians call "The Rise of Islam".  I guess we are experiencing the 2nd rise.
