legalize it by all means

you cant stop it anyway, and legal status makes for more sanitised conditions!

Hi Reni, yeah it was news to me, too (i.e. the straight Hustlers).  You've got a point about the strippers.  I guess it's good money, eh?  'Fraid I would not know since I DON'T have the body for stripping and so have never even thought to do anything of the sort in my life!

Thanks for stopping by.

Hmmm...Very valid point. And while I'm not particularly fond of the

idea of legalizing it, a question does come to mind...

What of the poor girls who find themselves in similar situations because of say, stripping?  Sure, stripping can cause many problems for young girls, but it remains a legal choice.  Making it illegal would just make their options to earn a decent living even more difficult.  In this case, prostitution appears to be the same.  Legalizing it is just the lesser of two evils.  Sure, people would still suffer as a result of it, but at least they would have legal recourse and support, whereas now they don't.

Just a thought...

But wow...I never realized that so many male prostitutes were straight.  That is interesting.

Queen, my dear, I think you misread the blog.  John Green is not leading them down the path to get laid.  Huh?  Go back and read it again.  He is certainly NOT advocating for legalization of prostitution, and in fact is desperately trying to help these men out of prostituting their bodies.  (Back at you!)

If 'John Green'
can lead men down the fork in the road that leads them to getting laid..................well, then, anything after that is a probability. Legalize prostituation and we all become poorly paid whores. But then again 'legalize prostituation' and perhaps women can become wonderful entrepreneurs in their own right..........I don't know its a toss of the coin

You can't wrap your brain around that, Quirky?  What's wrong with you???  (Sorry, bad joke.)  I've seen a few interviews of prostitutes and it seems the majority would like to be doing something else but the money's decent and they need the money to support a drug habit.  It's a vicious circle, for sure.  Anyway, I completely agree with you.  Thanks for stopping by!

Legal or illegal, I have a really hard time understanding how someone could be a prostitute. It's just not something I can wrap my brain around.

AJ, you make some very valid points, and I certainly appreciate your perspective.  To be honest, I'm ambivalent about legalization.  It's rather like the whole conundrum of legalizing marijuana.

Anyway, I'm "three sheets to the wind" at the moment, so will not attempt to comment any further.  But thanks for visiting!

Lots of things are legal...

...that aren't very good.

Take boxing, for instance--HORRIBLE!!!

And smoking, getting drunk, and over/under-eating.

Nobody is being arrested for any of those activities--just so long as they're done in appropriate places and all parties involved are consenting.

As long as there's an audience for it and people willing to beat each other up and call it a sport, there will be boxing.

People might be restricted as to where they can smoke, but smoking, itself, is legal.

So is drinking--even if you overindulge.

Of course, it's illegal to put others in danger by getting behind the wheel of a car when you've had too much to drink.

However, if you're three-sheets-to-the-wind and need a designated driver, nobody has the right to arrest you for your condition.

People who eat too much aren't handcuffed and taken to jail.

Neither are those (e.g. Karen Carpenter) who eat too little or/and make their food come back up/go through their bodies too fast.

We might not like the idea of prostitution, but it's not our bodies involved.

Seventh Day Adventists don't like the idea of eating pork--along with a few other things such as shrimp and lobster--but how would we feel if enough SDAs held offices where they had the power to change the laws to make it illegal for ANYone to consume those items, even atheists?

Atheists!  That's another interesting matter!  I think they should mind their own business when it comes to how they're trying to get any signs of Christianity out of public places.  (Not all of them, of course, but too many of them are!)

What if some of them got elected into places where they started passing laws left and right that would make it illegal to sell Bibles or even read them in our own homes!?!  UGH!!!

My conclusions regarding this matter?

I think that prostitution should be legalized--and discouraged!

But it won't be up to the law to do the discouraging.

It will be up to people such as that minister who are working to show hustlers and prostitutes a better way of life!

Blessings!
AJ
