I agree with you on this one: the "jokes" get old. My stepfather was like this to my Mom and I just seethed with anger every time I was around him, it took me years to get over him. I don't mind the cooking, MG really likes my cooking, is appreciative and doesn't take it for granted. Chris Rock has a great comedy bit where he says, "Women need compliments. They also need the occasional pair of shoes, but mostly they need compliments." It's no nice to be appreciated.

I'll say some men are so full of it. One of my X's thought he was just too intelligent to really engage in general conversation..then he would talk about every other woman he knew and how "uneducated" they really are! That feeling of "O everything is so beneath me" attitude...but in public, you would never know it from the way he acted. The reality is, there are more men out there like that than I care to know about. On the other hand, it gives me a good reason to always carry extra duct tape in my truck!!!

Any words that are said with the intention of hurting are despicable. If they're not meant to hurt, that's different. Sometimes people just blurt things. In the case of these MCP's, who are doing it deliberately, there's not much to like or respect about them.
