as in Parthenon?
that was dedicated to -- Zeus? -- right?
or diana?
forgot -- if I took time I could find out right away
hold on
ok Athena -- right? -- after whom Athens is named.
a cult there --
anyway -- I think anyone considering this can maybe understand two things
Jesus was born about the time that Jews expected an "advent" of some sort.
He was conceived at a time when the Hellenistic world considered that "sons of god" would be conceived.
good connection to both worlds.

Gome, good post.
Life's all about choices, eh?  You've made yours, I've made mine (archaic though it may be in your eyes), and now we coexist in some sort of peace or another in this realm called Blogit-land.

ariel70 - The word is also adopted by modern science to describe much the
same thing as virgin conception. Differing only in meaning in that it denotes procreation via one member of the species, usually the female but sometimes, as in insects, it can be from a neutral gender. Stimulation of the egg is almost always the precurser, with the stimulae varying from inherent chronology to outside influence ....but there is one thing to always remember, as of yet: ...there has never been a successful reproduction of a Human Being on record as having taken place without both the male sperm and female egg present. (regardless of how they are introduced to one another)

two things on Virgin Birth
new theories have the birth in the signof the Virgin.
by this conception would have been at a time when certain virgins were "joined" with their "gods" via the medium of the high priest and his helpers (Saturnalia).
interesting thought
