Thanks Krisles
That's good information. Prozac helped me when I had depression six years ago, but it doesn't seem to be helping now, but I may need to give it more time. I used to be a mental health counselor so I kind of know about finding the right "cocktail" of medicine. I'm impressed that you've stayed married for all those years with all those obstacles.

Hi there,
I'm not going to give you advice 'cos I'm also depressed so that'd be like the blind leading the blind. I can't offer info 'cos I live half a planet away. What I can do is offer a shoulder to cry on - so if you need someone to talk to to, send an e-mail/drop a line at my blog. You'll also have a good ear.

jollyjeff

I am married to a man on full disability because of depression/bipolarism and more, been married to him 27 years, through two hospitalizations, several psychiatrists and more psychologists and counselors/social workers than graduate from most schools in a year. I had my own burnout type breakdown with the short term depression/anxiety beast for about 3yrs and have ADD....during which time I took most of the common garden variety antideps and antianxis on the market...plus have had therapy with two psychiatrists and two psychologists.  Soooooo, I have lots of information about all this stuff.  And the main thing is that everyone is different.....every bit of info that people tell you will vary depending on the person....drugs affect everyone differently, etc.  And the drugs need to be administered by someone with experience who can see how each one, in conjunction with appropriate levels and amounts of therapy, work for you the individual. I had to go through every family of every different type of antidepressant to find type that worked for me...and then it was a combo to two...Prozac had no effect on me whatsoever....for example.  So, besides being careful about where you get your meds, be careful about having them administered properly and being patient with getting the right recipe for you....it's an art as much as a science.

As a Bi-Polar diagnosed patient, I hear what you mean.  I religiously take all of my meds, try to eat right,  and one thing that ALWAYS helps me to feel "great" is excercise.  God bless you Jeff.   I haven't read any of your posts in awhile, good luck with the greeting cards and other stuff you are doing.

jollyjeff, This is stated very clearly and it seems that anyone could understand this the way you explain it.  But, there are people who just cannot stop giving unsolicited advice.

Jeff,

Good advice coming from you.  Most of us tend to offer advice rather than share information. You've opened my eyes to something today.  Thanks!

Jeff

Be CAREFUL with the meds from Canada.  PLEASE!!!  If you are actually going to Canada and getting it from a pharmacy great, I'll shut the hell up.  But if you are doing mail order be VERY VERY cautious.  Check into the legality of it all as well.  You'll be even more depressed with drug charges on your record.

I tend to go the natural route, if you are ever interested let me know.  I would say for now, stick to what your doctor recommended until you do have it under better control before considering the natural route.
