I say, true that many times over. Where can such truth fall short of its goal? I answer...nowhere.

It isn't the mask or the wearing of masks that's the problem--
The problem is not being able to tell the difference.

Thank you so much. Yes, there are many similarities among differing faiths and cultures. Only the words are different.

It sounds simple in theory, but it is hard in application. Thanks for the comment and Happy Halloween.

Great post, and very timely for me. I was just mentioning today about
how I like to wear a certain mask to fool people into thinking I'm extroverted...

This is an incredible post. Excellent! Your beliefs that are expressed through this wearing of the masks is so much like my faith in the action of good and evil within any individual. Thank you for sharing.BB

This is a really good post! Once all the masks are removed then we learn about our true selves and can become the person that we really want to be and love ourselves so that we can share the goodness with others.

trust and vulnerability are necessary for the mask to come down. good post.
BTW, I have a little book of quotes, parables, koans and poems called
The Little Zen Companion by David Schiller. It's not a serious study of Buddhism or anything but there's hundreds of cool aphorishms and koans like in my blog. As far as Zen goes, I have always enjoyed the writings of Alan Watts, there's heaps of stuff on the net, many of his teachings are in a humourous and practical tone. I remember reading a book of his called
The Book on the taboo of knowing who you are. This is well worth reading. All the best, and thanks for reading my work.

You are right. The more it is avoided, the bigger and nastier it becomes. Thanks so much for reading.

Pity can be a powerful tool in gaining attention and getting affection. It is a mask as well, I would daresay. Thanks for the read.

Sincerity is dependent upon being yourself no matter what others think of it. You are learning well.

Experience is a grand teacher. How else can we discover who we are, but through who we are not?
You are right in saying that when the mask is worn, it is not known that it is a mask. Only afterward, upon reflection, does its true nature divulge itself.
Going one step further: You are the mask. A problem dissolves when resistance ceases. Then the thinker and his thoughts merge into nothingness, and how it came into being is seen.
Keep at it. You are on an important path.

"How can the unknown be assumed, when it is not faced?"
I have found that when I eventually do face stufff....it is so easy I think.
Sssshshshs I wish I had done that before. And you know? I mean the quite big stuff. I think that is because it is easier than carrying around baggage,

This is always a tough one for me
It's easier to come across happy and cheerful versus having people feel sorry for me.

every appearance seems to be a mask, even words or any symbol.I dont understand the choice? It seems hard to see through appearances, or not be an appearance.someone in pain or suffering to choose not a mask would be acting only a lie of expression or how you feel. It seems right what you say but not real, I am speaking really only of my experience though.

Thank you so much. I think that our fears are what they are because we don't want to face them. Look at them directly, and they disappear. It's like magic.

Great post for right before Halloween...the one day that it's "acceptable" to wear masks. But, too often we all wear masks every day. You're right to point out that we CAN'T assume about the unknown if we don't have the courage to face it/ confront it. Loved the part about "truth is light, and the light dispells the darkness." If you have a lighted candle in a room, it dispells the darkness...and if you move the candle to a larger room, even then the darkness is dispelled - no matter how much you try to "add" to the darkness, it will not put out the light.
