And I kept putting the series off!
I am not into the Western Genre, so the title, "Gunslinger" did nothing for me. I finally got hooked when the series was mentioned by the main character in "Hearts in Atlantis." I decided to force myself toread "Gunslinger," got hooked, and finished the series, enjoying it immensely.

I look forward to the comics for the artwork.

I must confess to not having read Dark Towers, and altho' I used to like his books, I think that now they suck big time.

One could delete a good third of the words in any of his later books, and wind up with a much better read. Much of their content is so much garbage, that rather than adding to the story's impact it detracts from it.

I wonder how many people are aware of King's deep indebtedness to Ray Bradbury

I tried reading the first Dark Tower novel years ago. I got as far as the Gunslinger meeting the little boy. I don't know why, but I couldn't stick with it. I'm a fan of the genre, but I rarely read it, as ridiculous as that sounds. In a comic book format, I'll give it another try. Maybe I'll figure out what I'm missing.
