Thank you very much for your kind words.  I'm thrilled you like the way I tell stories.  My father was a story-teller of sorts, as was his father, before him.  I guess it runs in my family.

Thank you for visiting.  I agree with you...always loved snow days at school (grew up on the East Coast).  But living in Texas has some good points.  Since we rarely get snow in my part of TX, when we do get the white stuff (rarely, but it happens once in a blue moon or so),  the folks here freak out so much that most businesses close down if it stays on the ground for at least a day.  The drivers here are awful...even if it just rains hard, the drivers just stop thinking & you have to become VERY much a defensive driver.

Thanks for the vote of convidence.  It's been such a LONG time since I've looked at mythologies.   It good to know that I didn't mess up the story line too much.

Ah, the pleasure of winter...not mowing the lawn - couldn't agree with you more!  (and in my part of TX we rarely get snow, so there's no shoveling the darn stuff in place of mowing the grass).

So true, so true - sometimes you just gotta get the h*ll out of there & take a break.  You more than deserve one, that's for sure!

Wow...you sure are busy when you're at home!  Good thing that you've got some leaway at work that allows you some freedom to rejuvenate...or you might be in a spot of trouble.

Ravencat, I liked the way you told the story.

good thoughts.  This could be the reason I like snow days so much.  No school!  Yipee!  Now if I could get snow days at work that would be perfect.

Raven,
I agree. I learned this lesson a few months ago when I found myself totally burned out at work. One day I was just sitting there and thought, "I gotta get out of here." I realized I hadn't taken a vacation for over a year. I took off about 6 days in a row (which in 10 years of working there I have only done once for my honeymoon) and when I came back, I was SO much better. Sometimes we just have to take care of ourselves.

I wish that were true for winter for me, but I'm constantly working firewood, scraping walkways, keeping the stove and fireplace fires going, etc.

You are right about taking rest periods. My job is such that I can sit for long periods and do nothing if I wish. Most of the time, though, I sit and ponder things or read and reflect. It totally rejuvinates me.

If I did what I do when I'm at home all the time, I probably would be exhausted.
