Gomedome,
There are jerks in every walk of life and every religion or non-religion. This country was founded by Christians who promoted freedom of religion or no religion. Their intention was not to take God out of the government or out of our society. When God is taken out of the picture, things do go downhill as they have been doing for a number of years now. No one's religion should be forced on anyone else but, by the same token, no one should be forced to remove symbols of their religion. Anyone, whether they be Christian, Athiest, Muslim, Buddhist, or any other denomination or non-denomination, should be allowed to practice freely. That's what this country was built on and that's what should continue today and into the future. Good post, Gome.

Good post!
While I think it's just petty for anyone to disallow anyone to show respect for their spiritual beliefs in whatever way with symbols, as long as it doesn't get out of hand,
I can also say that I know of people that are angry because they aren't allowed the same religious freedom in this supposed free country (US).
While Christians are allowed to have crosses and such put on their tombstone, some others aren't allowed to put symbols of some of their own spiritual beliefs on their tombstone, because this free country doesn't allow it.

MandaLee -- no doubt but you'd never know it to hear how some people
deal with this issue.

Gome, good post. I personally don't understand why we need any
religious displays in public places. Religion is a personal thing and unless every minority religion is represented with their displays, it does seem to favor the majority religion. Christians are supposed to be against idolatry, yet they have made these objects into idols, if you ask me. But there are jerks on all sides of the fence, that's for sure. We see it even here on Blogit.
