Well since we are talking about fiction, I guess I get to write my own story for it then. I would take the ring and be the only being powerful enough to control its powers fully for good and so on and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

We're dealing with fiction. As a writer I would make myself handling the ring fit with whatever I think would be the most interesting for the readers. The question itself is very mush loaded. Get me the ticket from 'Last Action Hero' and let me jump into the movie so I can grab the ring and see what I do with it. Will I be the great hero who can destroy it? Don't know. Well I let the influence of it take me over? I would hope not, since I do pride myself on self control. Will I get myself pierced and use the ring for decoration as pierced as Jack Black on the MTV movie awards sketch? No way.

The Orcs are a great representation for fundamentalists. People taken and disfigured and blindly going out to attack others with no real clue to fight, all it an attempt to destroy humanity. That is really what I see with the conservative fundamentalists right now.

If you want the cloning issue, you would do better to look at Star Wars episodes 2 and 3 to come up with a better example than the Lord of the Rings. The orcs are just twisted people, turned around be religious belief into following one set of ideas that they really know nothing about, btu have just been breed to follow them and enjoy tearing people that are not like them down through those beliefs.

And I see no connection at all between the WTC and the reference of the two towers in the Lord of the Rings. Outside of there being two towers, you would have to really be stretching things to say there is any kind of connected symbolism between the two.

How do you think you would fare
if the ring came into your possession?  Do you think you could resist its power like Frodo, or do you see yourself caving in like most of the characters do?  What do you think of Orc’s?  Isn’t is funny to think how somebody might start one day making real Orc’s, I mean with cloning and all?  And did you ever think about the remarkable symbolism between 9/11 and The Two Towers?

Yeah it can be a bother, Tolkien is a linguist,
and inserts a lot of that.  Did you watch the movies?  There are three.

I love the Lord of the Rings movies, but found the first book painful to read and had no desire to read the others. I just do not like his style of writing at all.

I've read about your fascination
with "Star Wars" and it makes sense that you get into the fantasy aspect of Halloween, as well. I was wondering, did you ever read or see "The Lord of the Rings" books/movies, and what was your take on that?
