I have worked with many people who have CP. Most have passed away now, like you said, they died after complications from colds or other respiratory infections. It's great that you are sharing information about this. There are so many people in that are misinformed.

I can understand Gram's wanting to explain your situation to people...because obviously you are going to be affected by the disease and show symptoms, but normally people will ask, and if they are too polite to ask, I'm thinking you'd probably fill them in yourself if you saw they were uncomftable. At least that's what I notice with my friends who suffer from handicaps or other limitations.
Afterall we are all uniquely different as we are uniquely the same.
