Yes, it is sad, OFFBEATS. I have cousins who grew up outside of Toledo, a
couple of friends who grew up around Toledo, and a father-in-law who still resides there.  Of all the places I may have envisioned something like this occurring (and there are quite a few, given my background in sociology, political science and history), Toledo didn't even make the list.  This is more of a Detroit kind of thing, maybe even a Chicago or St. Louis, but little old Toledo...who would've thunk it?

I saw this on the news, and I don't live that far away from Toledo. It just doesn't fit the image I have of the place. It is all so sad.

In my little town we have no blacks, we have no color, we have no flavor. I feel bad it is this way. I worry about my g/children and what they will think when they meet someone of color. Our town is so lilly white it is disgusting. Don't get me wrong, there are nice people who live there, but they don't understand the value of adding different cultures.

I always thought Toledo was a nice little city, I still can't imagine this happening there!
