WriterofLight,
You are very corrupt in your relaying of facts! There is no such position as an "Enemy Combatant" in Military Justice! Those are simply words that this administration uses to justify the criminal conduct of Bush Policy!Prisoners of War (POWs) are covered by binding treaties. America cannot legally confine POWs under the conditions that exist now! Bush has a problem! And you keep making me sick!

Thanks for the comments!

Sccop - exactly right.

corbin - were those trucks carrying documents requested by the Senate Judicary Committee for the Roberts confirmation hearings?

Damon - One more time - Guantanamo detainees are subject to military justice as enemy combatants. Criminal statutes do not apply. "And we won't even get into the complete disrespect for international law shown in the invasion of Iraq" I don't blame you a bit for not wanting to go there, because you know you will get your clock cleaned if you do.

fwmystic - see above. By the way: Starr did not try to impeach Clinton. He was impeached by Congress. That's what happens when presidents prove themselves unfit to hold office, as Clinton did - that is, unless you think it's perfectly okay for a president to lie, have affairs in the Oval Office, be involved in shady business deals, etc. But surely you cannot condone such behavior; after all, look how fervently you accuse Bush of the first and third offenses.

Now that's incredible.

It's Incredible...
...isn't it?

The sheer hypocrisy, and what's weird is - they can't even see it!!

I'm with ya DamonLeigh --
these butt monkeys celebrate the legal system when it's used agaist their political opponents, like how the special prosecutor spent millions trying to impeach Clinton and is still investigating Henry Cisneros. But when it workks against them, all of the sudden the legal system is being abused by partisans.

They don't mind holding people, including Americans, for three years and more without being charged with a crime or access to legal representation, but claim they believe in the rule of law.

How Can You...
...pom-pom guys talk about respect for the legal system when your dear leader has had several hundred people banged up in Guantanamo for over three years without charge, trial, or access to lawyers.

And we won't even get into the complete disrespect for international law shown in the invasion of Iraq.

Respect for the law - my arse!

WriterofLight

"If the liberals are going to be consistent with their understanding of the legal system,"

Therein lies the rub........it's not a question of understanding the legal system,  it's a question of respecting the legal system.   How can they.  It's the system of "the man".  Being the secularists that they are.....their basic belief that anything goes is in direct conflict with anything  representing structure....rules.....or laws.

No of course not that is why I say we have to let the system work
I still don't know why so many still love Bubba the Love Bug and who killed Vince Foster? From Clintons days as Guv through the WH how did he leave so much behind and still walk so tall in so many eyes?
