I'm going to rent Short Cuts the next time I go to Blockbuster. it sounds quite intriguing, and. . , my cup of tea. Julianne Moore being in it is a definite plus.

I am an Altman junkie so I love all his movies....and, yes, "Ready to Wear" is another one I love but it was pretty much a flop.  It ws originally named "Pret a " something...French... and it was on the other night as well...an all Altman night.  Since you are into fashion, I'm guessing you would really like it as well...it has Tim Robbins, Julia Roberts, Lauren Bacall, Sophia Loren, Tracey Ullman, and Kim Bassinger, and many others ....a total satire on the fashion industry that was a real hoot. And another Altman classic is "Nashville"... and, of course, "Mash"; and then, watch Julie and Warren in "McCabe and Mrs. Miller"....I should shut up......

Hey Krisles....Good cinematic post...
I will have to check out this flick..Sounds bizarre and juicy, just how I like my movies. Didn't Altman do one on the fashion business a number of years ago, or am I out to lunch?!

Hemlocker!
I did love that!  I love just about anything by the Coen bros.!  And Jeff Bridges is always a favorite....he has a way with expressions like no other....a vastly underrated actor.  Thanks for reminding me....I need to go back to Amazon...my cabinets of DVD's are full....I need another closet!  Have you seen "Serenity", yet?  I'm really liking this new series on TV, too....can't remember the name.....there are two, "Invasion", but I like the other one better....dang! this woman is heading up a group that has a plan to deal with aliens who are here.....Carla Gigliano or something like that is the star.....

Krisles, Hubby and Altman did not really get along very good together because they both were hard-headed   and determined to have things their way.   My hubby was a Robert also and so was their boss and they squabbled a lot.   Altman said he was there first, which he was so he thought my Robert should go by something else.   The boss Robert went by Bob so they decided that hubby should go by his initials which happened to be R.O. which quickly got changed to Rojo.  LOL   Soon though, Altman began making long trips to Hollywood to try to get things going there.   He would only come back to KC to work when he ran out of money.   Then as soon as he got money together again off he would go to Hollywood.  Eventually he stayed here.    When Altman was here filming Kansas City, they got back together on the filming set for some laughs.

I'd forgotten that!  I knew he was from KC and completely forgotten it.  I think Altman's a complete moviemaking genius.  Did your husband have a lot of stories about him or was he just a regular kind of guy who came out of nowhere to make movies?

Krisles, Good review.   Something that I thought you might get a kick out of.   It is Robert Altman's fault that my husbant spent a lot of his life being called "Rojo".   Robert Altman is originally from KC and he and my hubby worked together at Calvin Movie Productions back in the '50s.
