In the late Seventies it was reported nationally
that a WW I veteran reported back and abdomen pain and came in. Xray showed that a machine gun bullet which he had forgotten about or never knew had been left by the doctors was still in his body and had moved about until it nestled up against his spine, pressing some nerves.
Seems they were afraid to remove it in 1917 and left it; as foreign objects are wont to do, it "migrated" away from its former location and was removed by surgeons about sixty years after he had been shot.

This came out of Reuters which I find generally trustworthy
Doctors suspected a good bit prior that the plate had moved or the screws had loosed because the guy developed a weird infection. The body rejects foreign subjects generally. The guy had a cold for a bit, and he developed a bad cough. It caught him off guard.
