I wouldn't worry about that too much. Look into any criticism for what you can take from it and apart from that don't dwell on it.

Don't beat yourself up...I think you are a great writer, and so do many
others...whats that saying? "different strokes for different folks?"

MW,
I too don't take criticism personally.  If we did, we'd never get past the resentment to trying to better what we've written.

I try not to take any critism personally
While it does not always work, I do try to pull out any good suggestions and ignore the "You suck" comments.

Lisa, thanks for reading....

I think you have a point. You have to do reviews to be reviewed, so I suppose it is quicker to skim and then post a comment.   I hadn't thought about that it like that. Thank goodness I'm not easily deterred by negative comments.

Thanks, Rame.
There are times when we don't realize that going into anything with a bias, takes away our objectivity. I want to give everyone I read a fair shake, so I ignore the comments going in.

Ginnie,
Thanks.  I'm plodding along with that rewrite. I hope to get it done by Friday.  I'm not going to let the criticism stop me. As with any opinion that is offered, I'll sift what is useful and discard the rest.

Ouch.  Non-contrsuctive criticism isn't very useful, is it?  You know, maybe you were getting the feedback you were getting because of the site and the 'game rules' they have.  I posted briefly on a that kind of site (don't remember which one anymore)...and got similar types of comments.  I don't think the responses were from people who actually read my short story, but simply by people that had to make a comment quota.

word.smith,
Like you, I write my comments before reading the other comments. I don't want my thinking to be influenced consciously or unconsciously before I write my thoughts. I like your writing and wish you lots of luck in the future.

Excellent post word....
...I agree that there is constructive criticism and harsh criticism. Sounds like you're getting the latter. It's very painful for writers to have their work (and their hopes) put down like this but you know...you are a strong woman who has faith and determination and who works very hard...you're gonna make it! I know you are! I read your fiction and commented. :)
