Yeah, I bet Mary DID want you to be working again on Saturday. LOL
As for Jamie, I think I would talk to other parents whose children have been diagnosed with ADHD before rushing into medications (which you said you will not be).

Hi Symphony
my oldest son was diagnosed with ADHD around age 4. He had it pretty bad....still does for that matter:-) But he is 35, a good husband and great Dad to 2 boys (one is his clone:-) has a great job, makes a very good living and is a terrific human being.

Symphony.....
Hi.. I am glad that you are finding help. I was going to suggest a diet but as I read on I realize that has been done. I wish you the best with your difficult situation and I do hope you don't have to resort to the drugs.

Symphony--
There are so many opinions, "expert" and otherwise on this. I would exhaust every natural avenue, and only go to a drug as a very last resort. You will handle it, but it takes a support system.

Hold off from the drugs as long as you can.
I just have a real hard time believing that in the last ten years, millions of kids suddenly need elephantine doses of Ritalin every day or they're going to get distracted on their bikes and get run over by garbage trucks.
Hang in there and take care!

Good to hear they won't be medicating him Symph...
...he's too young for that. Having him in nursery school will be good for him and good for you! Thanks for the update!

Symphony...I'm glad they won't be treating him with medication. His tiny
little system isn't developed enough to introduce such things. I'm glad you will be changing his diet. I'd also like to suggest keeping him active in any type of group exercise or sports activity. My niece was diagnosed ADHD when she was 7 and, unfortunately they chose to medicate her at the time...she is now 16. I do send my prayers as I'm sure this will be quite a challenge to you and your family!~

>:-} ADHD runs in my family, and as of now two of my sons are on meds
for it. One will probably come off soon. The other has been on for about 3 years. I worked with him and tried to put off medication for as long as i could but it was really bad, especially at school, for him nothing else seems to help. He sees a doc regularly and I am hoping to put him into a camp locally next summer that has a program designed to help these kids learn more about themselves and how to cope. He is much more aware now than before and I think may learn to deal with his difficulty without the meds in the next year or so. I hope so anyhow.

So glad to hear things are going well and that you are getting some answers. I'm also very happy to read your blog this morning. I must still be asleep as many of the blogs I've looked at are not making sense to me.

a suggestion
One thing you might consider for him (depending on his age) is putting him on a daily schedule. Make sure he gets up at the same time, gets dressed at the same time, brushes teeth at the same time...ect. I am only suggesting this because this is what has worked for me....well most of the time. I have ADD (I'm 26) and I literally have to write EVERYTHING down otherwise I can't function. Routines really help.
