yes you do use humor to vent and there's nothing wrong with that. What ever works for you is best. Just don't hold it inside or it will eat you up! btw I am just like that, not the humor thing but the quiet thing. When I get really upset I get really quiet and when I get quiet...watch out...lol

I am a tycoon tyrant

Sweet, fun and loving...until she blows.  I hold it in, but my tycoon's come a little too often.  My tongue will spit out soul splitting words of pain and tantrum like a tasmanian devil.  If I can anticipate it I will hide in the bedroom until the storm passes...sometimes I write, sometimes I cry.

Well, Mia,
You just described me. I have been able to really scare the crap out of a few folks who were expecting to be hit. I guess they could have handled being hit rather than the seething silence.

Rage comes in many colors....
This anger you speak of, the kind you hold inside which burns just beneath the surface waiting to explode? Oh sure, I've felt that, in spades. In fact, I try not to let that kind of emotion out into the open for it can be deadly if you come into my aim when it hits as if I'm Mont Pelee's sister. On the outside I can look cool as you please, but inside I'm so red-candy-molten there isn't any room for another color to share it's space. So, do you have anything physically that gives you away when you are this mad? Do you tap your foot, twitch like you've got an itch that needs scratched, or purse your lips like you've just bitten into a sour lemon fresh off the branch? For me, it's all in the color of my eyes. Anyone who knows me well will know if I'm at the end of my "road of calm, ready to jump into a volcanic rage with abandon" just by how dark brown my eyes are. Where they normally are an emerald-golden color, if they get the chance to turn the color of semi-sweet chocolate, then it's time to look out 'cause baby I'm coming at you with both barrels loaded! Ouch!

Your description was like one I could have written!  And it makes people around me very nervous because I'm usually so opposite.  I either find a way to turn loose of it or I do rip someone a new one like they can't even believe in their worst nightmare...and then it's over...I cannot hold to being angry.

it depends just how angry I am.... my temper takes a while.... but when it
kicks in, watch out. LOL   If it's overwhelming, I do get quiet until the steam subsides.  It's not a conscious decision though... it's more like I'm so mad that I wouldn't be able to put together a coherent sentence.  LOL

Mia....
Most of the time, I remain quiet and try to avoid the sorce of my anger.

Hey! I hope you're ok and this is just a random thought!
Me - I blow up, I can't help it. My other half stays quiet and it drives me insane!!!!

I'm right there with you.  If I'm angry with someone, I don't talk to them.  This past summer I was so angry at a co-worker, I didn't talk to her for two months!

Go quiet...
..that's what I do.

I always gave in to the anger!

I always believed that letting it out was better than keeping it pent up inside.

I was wrong!

Mia
I go home, jump on the treadmill and run as fast and as long as I can. That's usually about two minutes.
