Avant -

Good post. I think renunciation is critical to union with the Divine - if it's done at the right time. There are things we must keep and things we must do before we renunciate.

as far as I understand it, renunciation is a turning away

from externals in order to allow the inner silence to be the stronger influence in ones life, so impressions don't overshadow the unshakeable truth. Anyone can do this, it doesn't mean living in a cave in solitude or celibacy or fasting. Life is to be enjoyed, not denied, however we can enjoy it in a way which doesn't lead to us getting addicted to it... this is how I see renunciation.
