it's their own fascination -- more to do with that than with any soul saving, although they will deny such

A few years back it got a lot more media attention than it does now. I remember back in High School hearing about it every year. I just live close enough to the Church that takes credit for making it into what it has become, so it was active local news. You must be lucky and not live close to any church doing such things.

I really just can not understand the reasoning anyone would have to create such a thing. To me it says you can not relax and enjoy a fun holiday season. You have to go and take things events that really only happen to a small percent of the population and become fearful of them. And then to promote this activities to children just is as sick as it gets. Let them enjoy the idea of a fun holiday and pretend. I guess these people take life way too seriously and wish to try and ruin things for others as well.

I know. I am not sure what kind of mentality pushes people to see so much evil in the world and then wish to reproduce it for those who have never been exposed to such. My thinking is if people are lucky enough to not have had to live through such things, there is nothing to gain by showing them such events and trying to scare them. Life is hard enough as it is, why would anyone wish to make people feel more uncomfortable.

They really are selling those kits. Look at the web site I have a link for in the post. It tells about what kits they have and how much they cost. Some of the music and such sound like it might be good for regular haunted houses.

kooka_lives, I have never heard of such a thing.   I looked up "Hell Houses" on the internet and was appalled at what I found.   It even said its been around since the 1970's.   Good grief.   Where have I been.   Would anyone really take a child into such a thing?

some segments of Christianity have a morbid obsession with hell.

kooka_lives -- you gotta love anyone who can sell stupidity -- if in fact
they are selling those kits. Considering the infinite supply, the ability to sell stupidity has no earnings ceiling.

Yeah, those are most likely the same people. The have a whole kit they sell to other churches around the country so they can commit the same insults.

Now from what I saw some of the production values are really nice. They could make real good haunted house if they ever wanted to do something that was not an insult to all and very much against the spirit of the season. But I guess some people just do not know how to have fun without putting others down.
