dreamweaver4u -- yeah I am a Canadian which really only means 3 things
I am likely to have better manners than most other people on the planet, the cold doesn't bother me and I could give a flying fork about the American political climate.

Wait a minute, Dreamweaver...Not all Canadians are liberals

Dear Gomedome,

I hope you are kidding. Same sex couples are more likely to teach their children tolerance rather than bullying, gun control rather the merits of the NRA, maybe even that we should not let people go get killed in wars far away when they cannot even legally drink a can of beer... This sounds very... Liberal! (I suggest you read my blogs on how Liberals are ruining our minds... Ah! but I forgot you are Canadian!)

Insensative would be making fun of their little gun....lol...

Kiddo75 -- that's right -- I cannot imagine living life being
over sensative. This world would be unbearable but of course one must guard against being insensitive.

And even when weapons are pulled, they are only being mean when they
actually shoot them...

ariel70 -- it takes a heck of a lot more than ambiguous wording for me to
take offence. Ussually I'm only offended when they pull weapons.

Gomedome

have you seen my apology post?

I hope that this makes everything clear, and that we remain friends. I'm off to lunch, so if you do want to leave a reply, please do so on my blog

JanesOpinion -- we also cannot ignore that agnosticism can vary in degree
Some people who are by definition agnostics, simply have doubts about the existence of God while others are certain a traditionally defined God does not exist but hold a reservation that another form of God may be discovered or defined.

I see your point,
I guess I've talked more with agnostics than atheists, and I've seen a level of honesty that has impressed me.  To be able to say something along the lines of "I just can't be sure about a God out there, but I'm going to keep searching, keep trying to understand . . . ." Anyway, your point is well taken.

JanesOpinion -- I've never felt that way or thought one mindset was more
"honest" than another. Every set of beliefs has individuals who profess to hold them from insincere positions. There is the "whoa is me" atheist who only professes a disbelief in God based on lousy life circumstances, or the believer who professes belief only to be accepted within a certain communal group, or the agnostic who professes his doubt to be fashionably thought of as an intellectual. These are just quick examples but ultimately we can never know the level of an individual's sincerity in their convictions. To pick one set of beliefs as more honest than another ignores these human characteristics, it also ignores that all people possess differing intellects and differing types of minds.

Please correct me if I'm wrong,
but would it be safe to say that agnosticism is a more honest state to be in?  To acknowledge doubt over the existence of God vs certainty over his non-existence?  I suppose one could make the same comparison between agnostics and believers, although a believer would say that he or she has his/her Bible (or other religious book) to support whatever religious beliefs are espoused. . . .  Just a thought.
