Libertine,
"Narcissistic" is a great way to describe many of them!

Maggie,
Yep. I hate being ignored and I won't tolerate it!

Symph,
People can just be so rude!

Hemlocker,
You're right. Many of them are selfish, distracted, and insensitive assholes. I just have no tolerance for people like that.

but what do you do when they are in the passing lane and you are behind them and they are talking on the cell phone and not paying attention?

I'm so tired of narcissistic, oblivious assholes.

Spitfire.....

I hate when people ignore me.  If I'm there first, I expect all their attention and I don't want it shared until they're through with me.

And that's the truth! Are You Ignoring Me

Spitfire--
Don't you know, these are the people running our country?   Well...maybe not.  They have personal shoppers to do their shopping so they don't have to hob nob with the little people in grocery stores.  Maybe these people are just selfish, distracted, insensitive assholes.  Hemlocker

Line of the week:
“Yeah, and all these people are standing there cause they’re waiting for the music to start so they can line dance.”

You rock, Young Miss!

Military, see, but your situation is DIFFERENT!
I mean, if a call comes in on your cell that any caller ID cannont recognize, HELL YEAH you take the call! But, for instance, my brother-in-law who is an orthopedic physical therapist has told me that some of his patients actually pick up the phone during a massage session only to say, "Oh, I'm getting a massage right now. Can I call you back later?" It's called VOICE MAIL, PEOPLE!!

I think progress will be to make the public aware they do not have to put up with rudness from all directions. BB

LifeByLisa, well, thanks. But, you probably do have the
"ability" to say something. You're probably just more tactful and polite about such things than me.

poetjpb, I agree. I mean, I love men and all, but I have found
that it's more men than women in this situation.

Thanks Justsouno-Mum. I think we all run into the gold-star
lunitic now and then but somebody has got to say something to them or they will just continue on with their rudeness. I don't think many will actually discontinue their daily practice of being rude and unaware/uncaring of others, but I think a few may stop and think twice about it the next time around. Maybe.

Thanks for the reminder...
I'm generally fumbling around trying to silence mine if it rings unexpectedly...if it's something I have to deal with I excuse myself and go to the end of the line when finished.  Totally relate to how rude it can be.  I wish I had your ability to tell people straight forward...I can get even with people but sometimes think a lot more of what I could have said at that time.  Good for you.

I have to admit I am guilty

of taking calls at times that most might find it rude.  The problem is I never know exactly when my husband will call so I can't time things and needless to say I won't ask him to call back.

I do try to excuse myself when the phone rings and if someone is helping, I quickly explain that it is my husband who happens to be overseas and thank them for their time.

That's mama's little girl. Good for you, stand up and be counted. Even if others don't. Rudeness should not be tolerated in this society. People will not do that if we do not let them. At least most will not and as you say you have to chance it if it is your day to run into the gold-star lunatic.Good Post.

Another ignoramus

A friend and I were out for coffee one night and met up with one of these Mr. MeMeMe types. My friend was in the middle of chemo treatments and in a wheelchair. I searched the parking lot for the handicapped parking spot only to see this bozo drive up in his macho truck, park in the handicapped spot, leap out and head into the convenience store. After parking way the heck down the lot, my friend asked me to push her in her chair into the store.

Mr. MeMeMe was standing there healthy as can be, buying cigarettes. My friend rolled herself up to him and asked if he was handicapped since he had taken the spot. He just smirked and said "I'm just going to be a minute".

She took off her wig, revealing a totally bald head and shouted (to a full store) "Do I look like I can walk from the back of the lot you a@@hole?" She then proceeded to tear a strip off him that was a pleasure to see. The whole store applauded as he slunk his way out of there.

Good for you girl. Good to hear people speak up around here.
Well, what I saw yesterday, is just gonna piss your right off, it did me. I was standing in line with my TWO items, no big deal, I wait like the rest of the lemmings. However, this Granny behind me was waiting, just like the rest of us, and some dic*head schmuck cuts right in front of her, and plops his lunch down, looked at me and chuckled. I couldn't believe this! What a complete f***ing a**hole man. This poor, little, innocent Granny, was just completely cut in front of in line. I admit, I didn't do anything, I think I was still in shock. It totall curbed me. Sadly, the check out lady still served him. I do know that if I was checking stuff out, I would absolutley not have served that guy.
