We'll work on the difference between an athiest and an agnostic later.

"almost valid"

Glad I rate an "almost valid" rating.  Seems like that's pretty good for the opposition.  By the way, you're my favorite atheist .

calebs_blogger - you almost make a valid point in suggesting the two

different approaches are not compataible in a head to head comparison. While one group is making determinations via the physical or measurable, the other group uses a faith or a sense of the spiritual world to base it's beliefs. It actually sounds good the way you put it except it doesn't in any way represent how it really is. Those that have a faith in the spiritual world spend every minute of their lives trying to make their beliefs fit into the physical, measurable world. In that they have a pre-occupation that the non believer does not have.

sport?

I sat here trying to come up with something humorous and clever to say..  without much success

"this wind-up Bible thumper toy's spring is wound up tight!"

"this wind-up Bible thumper toy's spring is broke!"

Oh well... the great comment will hit me about 20 seconds after I hit the "Add Comment" button.

You know, in the great debate you envision, you put the Christians at a disadvantage.  You accept as valid only the information you can see, touch, feel, etc. in the physical, logical, scientific world.  You eliminate the entire spiritual realm on which we base our beliefs.  Almost by definition, a logical debate of "facts" as you accept them cannot occur.  Our entire arguement (I hate calling it that) is based on faith.   Sounds like you win on a technicality.  Half the fans are clapping.  Half the fans are booing.  The talking head TV commentators have a field day predicting a rematch.  Maybe theyll be discussing the potential impact of next year's rule change too.

I hope I provided some "wind up"  fun.

MandaLee -- That makes you the exception -
..........respecting Christians and leaving them to their beliefs?

I'm not willing to enter into any arrangement with any person or group that is entirely inequitable or one sided. Nor am I willing to relinquish my standing as an equal member of society to the beliefs of others. It really is that simple when dealing with the Christian majority. They are not, by any stretch of the imagination willing to "leave others to their beliefs", collectively they feel that respect for the beliefs of others is a one way street with very few individual exceptions.

Gomedome, What would be wrong with respecting Christians and

leaving them to their beliefs?

Clearly, you are very smart.  Although we disagree, I respect you as an individual and leave you to your beliefs.
