Masky ....Jamie still wont..wee or anything in the potty.
He doesn't mind sitting on the potty, but refuses to do it....he does it wherever he is...its like he is not getting it...so like I said to factorfiction, I may quit for a bit...or at least this weekend.....and try again when we both feel like it again....argh...its hard work.

Symphony...typo in my last comment...we CAUGHT her standing up to pee.
I think she was afraid to sit down...afraid to fall in...it happened once and still causes trauma to this day.

Symphony...did you buy the cheerios and try what I recommended yet?
Fruit loops would work well also...anything that floats. My son quit wetting himself at 2, however, the other business...he preferred a pull-up for that until about 2 years and 3 months. All kids are different. My daughter took longer to train. We often got her trying to stand up and pee like her brother. SERIOUSLY!

My approach was not to push the point until
my boys were three. They were more ready and it was a lot more pleasant for all of us. The older one was done in a long weekend right after turning three. He knew it was coming with his bday and he was old enough to be able to do it then. My kids love to have power struggles over things and I was so not up for this to be one of them!

Woof!
I have no advice in this area, other than to run fast, run far.
Oh wait, you can't do that. Crate training, maybe?
Actually, my dotty aunt potty trained her grandchildren by making them drink all the pepsi they could hold, then not letting them out of the can until they successfully used the potty.
She's a little weird, but it worked...

A helpful hint Symph
Potty training my son at about the same age was great. He went from diapers all day and night to dry day and night in 2 days.
We started with a shopping trip (what else
). I made a HUGE deal about what a big boy he was and how he was getting big boy underpants, none of that "baby" diapers anymore. He thought the pocket at the front was neat and walked around with his hand in it for a few days :))
He was on a regular eating schedule by then so every half hour or so, we would make a big deal about going to the bathroom. Every sucess, even a drop, got him a sticker, or a small treat and lots of cheering and clapping.
It took some concentration for a few days but the outcome was fabulous !
Good luck Symph !

Symph,
The one thing my son taught me is that he would not be rushed. He did everything in his own time. Just when I was despairing and thinking he would never stay dry or go potty, he did it!

Jamie will do everything in his own time. Just hang on, enjoy the ride and try to stay sane.

Symphony,
Just relax and allow this period to go by without too much anxiety, it will soon pass and you will be on to still another stage. Children are such hard work but worth every tinsy insy minute of it. Bless you dear ones.

Remember it will be frustrating and new for him too.

I've heard it said that girls
are easier to potty train than boys, but with my two kids I don't really remember. One things that I think that helped with my son, was that we would go into the bathroom together and sit on our separate thrones and giggle and laugh at the sound of tinkling. Perhaps not a good idea for a Mum and her son.

Symphony....oh, I don't envy you. Hey, try throwing some Cheerios in the
potty. Tell your son to take aim and sink the Cheerios. This may leave less "leaks" on your floor. Good luck, my friend!
