- Go to What exactly is Secular Humanism?
Schree -- I think that a person being open minded is all that can be asked
of them. We live in a world of philisophical divisions with each group decrying the validity of their own perspective while depicting other groups in a negative light. I simply cannot see why religious groups would want to challenge the sound underlying principles of Secular Humanism. It smacks of "talabanism".

Xeno-x -- in reading some of the points of the underlying charter for the
Society of Secular Humanism, I have yet to find anything objectionable. So far they seem to have their heads screwed on tight enough and they were smart enough to refer to their association by a cross ideological handle. Not being numbnuts right out of the gate is an appealing quality in a group of like minded people.

thing is
these principles can improve any religon
i think there are several denominations that ascribe to many, if not all of these principles, in principle, if not in statement of belief.
i also see where they are not the enemy of religion.
