thelongroad -- that's a pretty pathetic attempt at a retraction

There was no false assumption on my part as you imply. You left a comment on my posting with the heading "Burn in hell Baby" ... if it was not directed at me, maybe you could enlighten us all as to why you left that comment here and to whom you aimed it at?

I will address the rest of your comment in a posting.

Yeah, that's it...yeah, that's the ticket...that'll fly....c'est mieux.
(I tell my cat that to look down her throat).

My Point Proven
Thanks for proving my study that atheists are quick to jump to false assumptions.  I never directed stated that I wanted you to burn in hell yet you assume that the title was directed at you.  So defensive.

majroj -- were you trying to say c'est mieux?
That means "it is better" in French. I used to be loyal to the Canadian beer brands but they are now all owned by foreign multi nationals ....so I let my taste buds decide now.

Talion -- how have you been?
You know I actually did that once with quotes from a number of bloggers including our favourite venerable pastor. I posted her quotations anononomously and the very first comment I got from a blogger that didn't know her or any of the others, is that I was making it all up. When compiled it is very hard to believe that first, people would say such things and second that I would be dumb enough to continue rattling the cage for more of the same. Ha ha ha  I want winding up bible thumpers in the next Olympics.

You should compile all the names you've been called, with direct quotes lifted directly from the comments themselves, and post them in the Humor category. It'll be number one within a week.

thelongroad -- here's a little challenge for you if you are up to it

I will continue to dialogue with you under one condition. The condition being that you do not throw the first insult. We'll both see how long you last. You want to blame me for hurling insults but you are not aware of my strickly adhered to policies. I never insult someone first, ever, I only respond in kind and treat people as they would treat me. You will not find one instance in the 2 years of my being here of my ever just indiscriminately insulting someone. I defy you to find one example. You want to tell me to go to hell, leave the country etc. etc. I can play that game as well, but you'd better be able to take it if you choose that route.

The part you are ultimately not grasping is that you are confusing the content of my postings which you obviously find offensive with my conduct and even my person. You ultimately make the choice to come here, so what's it gonna be?

Gomedome = hypocrite
You're a man of hate, pure and simple, your arguments are flawed and riddled with logic problems, but you don't care about the opposition.  You can't handle someone challenging your flimsy anti-beliefs so you resort to insult someone's intelligence.  And

Moulson Ice...mui better-o or however you say it in Quebecois.

Miller...could be worse.

Lite: agreed. Tongue in cheek pun.

majroj -- as for the rest of your last comment -- they are tongue in cheek
except the contributors sometimes do not realize it. I've had people stand in my office howling with laughter at some of the comments I have received. I still myself have trouble accepting some of these notions as serious. It can be pure entertainment. And I know what you mean about implied intent when someone makes a comment. The individual who recently suggested that I burn in hell was trying to be as insulting as possible, at least from their perspective. The fact that between us, it is only they that actually believe in hell really is immaterial when the implied intent was so obvious.

majroj -- Please -- drinking lite beer is like showering with your raincoat

Like what's the point? No, I was talking about the golden nectar of the gods, an angel crying on your tongue ...Miller High Life .. the original, not some yuppy, uptown version...real beer. If they make a beer lighter than what you see below it could only be suitable for weening babies.

This is how we get it up here, ($8.50US Dollar equivalent for 6 tallboys) our own special packaging with all of the English duplicated in French...as if a Frenchman would know a good beer when he tasted one?

Re. my comment...did you mean Miller Lite?

You know, some the comments you garner would be a hoot if they were tongue-in-cheek.

If you live where homemade chicken liver pate is a delicacy and they congratulate you as a "damnfine chickenpicker", you smile broadly, and take a bow. They mean well and the spirit rules if the act isn't evil...for example, if they called you a "damnfine puppycooker", or some such.

thelongroad --- You begin a comment with "Burn in Hell Baby" then when I
dust you off as the insignificant little nuisance that you are, you take offence. Don't leave such ludicrous comments if you cannot handle a response in kind. It is really that simple. Don't come to this posting if it bothers you so much, you have nothing intelligent to add anyways.

goes to show
a Christian is not necessarily a member of a certain religion.

more Christians are not Christians and more non-Christians are than too many Christians would care to admit.

Why Are You An Arrogant Prick, GomeDome?
Honestly,  why are you atheists ALWAYS such arrogant pricks that thrive on insulting others?  Again, you prove that you have no morals, a cold heart, and you are probably full of hate and misery.  Stop mocking Christians and contribute to society.

anyhow... what happened is... some SOB took his KARMA and ran right over my DOGMA!!!

They didn't say you were a good Christian,

They said you wqere walking in the light and demonstrating what it means to act like one or some such.

Kind of like being told you're pretty alright for a @#%%$*..in fact, some of my best friends are @#%%$*'s.

I mentioned many posts ago that I had friends who were Christians and I am not. They were sometimes puzzled when I was so "Christian-like" yet unreligious. I would even go so far as to agree that abortion is murder, but that so is war and I was an NCO in a branch of our military, and that we both agreed that capital punishment is sometimes warranted.

Neither fish nor fowl to them... but very nice folks.

Nice distinction

"These types of things are inherent in human nature, influencing a situation positively beats the negative anytime.."  Enjoyed this reflection on what I often find to be a peculiar human tendency.

WhiteJedi -- the answer I feel is indicative of how much the notion of a
God of some sort is perceived as being representative of all that is good. All good acts being related to God or Godliness is indellably etched within our subconsciousness. Having been pounded into place with the oversized mallets of persistence and two millenia of time. It may take just as long to purge these default types of thought processes.

So true.  Why can't people just help others because they're decent humans?  Why does the action always have to be given a spiritual nature?
