The "madman" question reminds me of the old saw,
"When did you stop beating your wife?"

There is one blogger who does both and gets paid for it.
The person who does "Art Opportunities" has nearly $2,000 earned....

I quiet of like your post on a subject that I have come across very often. I must admit that your final conclusion has been very helpful. This is because out of anger I fell into the trap of rating chasers and it has caused me dearly. Yours post always makes a big difference.

littlemspickles, savvy handling of a crisis can make a big difference. The key is to open new avenues (as long as they are not more dangerous). If one is reasonable and helpful it is harder to be hung out to dry

tigerprincess, of course train wrecks can't be ignored. There is a responsibility to cover them

Interesting, interesting....    Yes, they are good at planting the little landmines in your way, aren't they?

Re: the madman
is that where you comment, "No comment?" Or would that be detrimental? But the same goes for, "We've not been informed of that claim" because then they can say you are incompetent and don't know what's going on! Sure you have to be safe in your answers but if they want a particular angle they will make sure it is portrayed that way!

People may or may not stop to look at deer or nice flowerbeds, but everyone looks at a car crash. The reason Louisiana got more coverage than Mississippi during Hurricane Katrina, when MS got hit much harder, is because LA created the bigger train wreck. OF course there can be good train wrecks too.

Ah, another problem that I don't and probably will never have. A small thing to be grateful for today...
