- Go to THE DAY I THREW MY BIBLE IN THE GARBAGE
CarolynMoe -- apologies are not necessary as I was not a victim
I actually lived a priviledged life by comparison to those around me, simply because my skin is white. If the truth be known, our class graduated that year only for one reason, there were too many white boy's families in an uproar.
The one and only attempt by a priest to entice me into a "situation", I was completely oblivious to at the time. The realization of what the sick bastard was up to by trying to get me to become an alter boy, (which I never did)... did not come for years afterwards when it was brought to light that the majority of alter boys had been molested. By this sicko, a number of others like him and all facilitated by the church hierarchy. The realization itself has fostered a sense of responsibility in me, I grew up with these guys and half of them are dead now, mostly at their own hands and primarly as a result from what this religion did to them. The responsibility comes in speaking out whenever I see the same type of dark cloud forming within the attitudes of modern day religion. I simply won't stand bye and let a simular scenario happen again without making an effort to stop it.

I concur with Justsouno... and am very thankful I was blissfully unaware of such evils when I was a child. I loved the music from Sunday school and church... still love Christian music... it lifts me up when I am down.

I'm sorry for what you've suffered... Nail the devil in the name of Jesus... He's behind all the evil... essentially, Justice will one day come, I have to believe that or I would not believe.. we all are sinners and need forgiveness... we all need to forgive one another... but many child molesters need to be in prison... One person's opinion... Have a great Fall Gomedome, we need a new way of living.

Gome, I do see that. I keep standing against that in any place I am
I am appalled at those who will not reject the teachings of others and get it for themselves. I do believe the Word of God is real and true. I also believe that man has tried in every manner possible to corrupt it and have done so much evil in the name of Christ. Those are the people who will be in hell. The last verse in the Bible is woe unto any man who changes one dot or tittle of this word. I can tell you there is nothing in the Bible about Christians not eating meat on any day. In fact in the New Testament it says not to let people put their certain days on you or tell you what you can or can not eat. The Catholic Church gets its laws from the Pope. That in and of itself is not of God. The Bible has all we need to know in it. This is one of the reasons I object to doctrines of any of the denominations of the Christian Church. It has more than we will ever understand fully. Again I am sorry this happened to you.

Justsouno -- that is just the half of it
If you ever wondered where the Catholic church was sending it's wackos when it was harbouring them from criminal prosecution in so many child molestation cases and for other offences, what better place than remote mission schools? We had priests rotated in for as little as 2 or 3 months, then mysteriously rotated out to be replaced by a new sicko. Little wonder the natives burned the place to the ground in 1982.
From my perspective and after a trip to Tehran where I ran headlong into religious culture shock, the major organized religions all carry simular trademarks. What people have done to the underlying messages in all of these religions is in itself criminal.

gomedome it is no wonder you hate what passed themselves off to
you as Christians. That is incredibly and unbelievably cruel. I have many friends who had not that bad but very bad experiences in Church. There is no Scripture to back up any of their man-made drivel. That is a shame. I am truly sorry that was done to you or anyone in the name of Christ. It was not of Christ. No one a priest or anyone can damn a person to hell anyway, nor can anyone but Jesus forgive one's sins. I am sorry.

cantey_1975 -- good one -- and a little brew is just what they needed
at least if they were suspected of being drunk, it could possibly eliminate people's suspicions that they were crazy.
