Putting yourself out there sets you up for rejections, but it is a necessary evil. There is comfort, too, in activating your goals, is there not?

May, I'm confused.

Your first para seems to say non-involvement in the chat activity is good because it let you do some needed things. But your third para says involvement is good.

Perhaps the answer is one must discriminate (old definition) to determine WHAT to get involved in.

Kindness without fuss. Happens every day in ordinary places too and it's always harder to see those kind people, hear those kind people. Someone or some noise is always masking them. We should go looking from time to time, like that editor did.

Nice to hear you are getting things done.
