I always feel sad when I see someone leaving. I still hang around although some days it's by a thread.

I miss Klara, but there ARE good writers here. Lensman comes to mind.
Joe Love is another. Ariel70 is yet another. You really don't have to look too far.

I see blogit as a place
that could serve as an incubator for a book. I am a very inconsistent "community member" around here. Sometimes I think I need to get away from blogit a few more days a week to concentrate on plot development or texture or voice. And FOR ME, another thing: Art and anger do not mix. --Or venting, or "blogging," say--if all it is crap deluxe. The "writers" here among those who only "blog" owe it to themselves and others to be work on their stories. And it is all too easy to write an angsty story. I am not much into "heart warming" as an adjective for my stuff, yet why couldn't the vanilla fiction section on blogit shine? -and be "heart warming," "uplifting," --gee, that sure runs counter to the stuff I do. I better shuddup. :) --N

I agree...there's a lot of crap and a lot of good stuff.. : )
Personally, I just post my stuff as more of an outlet. That's how this all began for me...a way to get my feelings about my divorce out. I figured if I made money at it, great, if not, oh well. People seem to read it enough, I guess. I do enjoy good reads, though. : )

Yep, I know what you are saying
I miss KlaraRoberts, and quite a few other great bloggers, but I think we have a few great ones hanging around here still. I have also been here for two years, and I am blown away by how many have left us. Remember Crabby? She actually scared me to death when I joined, but she also taught me a few things.

Strick...ditto on what Timmytales says...seems it's more about
"keeping up with the Jones-es" than demonstrating your writing ability. Gotta play to get read. Pretty sad, huh?!

I'm not sure how long you have to be here before you are no longer considered a "newbie"......I have been here since April of this year. I have seen a couple leave, I only know that they were popular because of the posts that I read about them. Other than that, it seems that the same folks are here.......and the same posts.
I came here to write fiction........it did not take me long to figure out that people here do not want to read it. Now that I have gained a small amount of status, it is read more. Still, it seems that bloggers want to read about what's going on in everyday lives. Also, as quirky said, there is still some very good writing going on out there........you just need to seek it out.

I think its all a matter
of someones taste. I'm new here, so I can't comment on how it was two years ago, but maybe there were more writers in the beginning saying things you were interested in reading? My blog is about what's happening to me, for better or worse. Write what you know they say. Maybe someone else can apply it to their own lives. If they can then that's great. That's what makes a site like this a "community," isn't it?

S...Gold
Maybe a lot of writer bloggers have been trying to sell their writing and realize that if the writing's been posted online, in said blogs, well, the selling is then even more difficult to accomplish. So posts become less about writing and more about banter or hook...

Well...
I do miss a few old bloggers who seem to have left recently, but I still love a lot of the writers on here. Even in the controversial blogs, they're amazing. And the occasional lack of grammar and coherence, while it annoys the hell outta me, is the beauty of blogit--no editorial processes you HAVE to go through to get published! Pure genius, I think.

a good blogger is constantly commenting, sucking up, playing politics.
Perhaps u meant where have some of the better writers gone.

Well, I feel that part of the appeal of Blogit is the amazing range of ability and quality. People here are not only looking to be read, but looking for community. And within a community, it takes all kinds to make it three-dimensional, colorful, diversified. If everyone produced works of the of depth, or exhibited a certain level of craft, how dull it would be here. Maybe you meant to comment on the disappearance of some "greats", but, I'm sorry to say, you left us lowly readers thinking you were really commenting on the "lack" of talent and substance here in Blogitland.

You kinda did imply that with these two sentences: When I first signed on as a member other members actually wrote. These days many of the post are just junk.

Quirky
I wasn't saying that there are not still good ones here. I was simply stating that we have lost some members that we all enjoyed reading as well that seem to have just disappeared. Too many to name but just off of the top of my head Hollee and Toole have left CountBratela who was just a teen that was going thru quite a lot there are many more that have left and these were members unlike myself that stayed high in the ratings. I bet Ariala could really make a list since she has the photoblog of members.

i haven't seen anyone go yet, for i have only been here since july 05 but the work i have read i have to admit is at times very limited, i myself on the odd occasion have produced crap, but those are my off day's as it does irritate me immensly when post end up being full of jarbled chit chat, that you could enjoy more at your local super market, then on thr other hand i see some very creative writiers who know how to sock it out!!. thry are the one's i try to be influenced by taking as many spare leaves from their books as possible to iimprove my work.Good luck hope you find something interesting soon anyway. xx nice 2 meet ya.

No, I totally disagree with you. While many good writers have left (too many favorites to list) I think there ARE still plenty of good writers here, posting "real" and meaningful posts--I read dozens of them every day.

I couldn't agree more!
I don't find much interest in people's trivial, day-to-day activities. To say nothing of bad grammar and spelling, incoherence or ... well, need I say more?
