I think I must say ditto.
I wrote a post on the new negros blog about the devastation. I have to agree that you would think the only state affected was New Orleans. I have people in all of the states and they are not receiving coverage. I guess this is catastrophe prejudice now? At least they aren't talking about the Tsunami still.

NPR has been covering some other areas.

This has been another example of news as rating engines.

Also, since they sent all their assets there to witness the city's immersion (which didn't happen yet) and their assets are probably stuck, they have little choice.

 

A coworker has been in touch with a friend there, fleeing rising water from upstream and out of levees. Any trip over a bridge or chokepoint is a nightmare, one-hour drives take twenty-four. Some major arteries are only two lanes wide normally.
