Symphony, drop me an email on this and I'll happily make some suggestions. Send me an example of what you sent to the mags, the pitch and the taster and also let me have the names of the mags. It sounds like you did well...

Wow, that's fantastic! I greatly admire your courage to go ahead with your dreams. Good for you in "tweaking" your blogs into great articles & submitting them. I hope that you get ALL your articles published & get PAID big-time. (this comes from an aspiring writer...who hopes to actually get paid for her writing) - thanks for being a good example for me.

Sounds good Symphony..
I'm keeping my fingers crossed. In my experience, payment depends on who you're writing for. It's your choice of course, but I wouldn't go lower than $25 for one article, unless of course you plan to sell it over and over again. Magazines seems to pay lots more than ezines and some journals. I would encourage you not to give away your writing for free, thinking about getting credits. You already have a writing credit, since you've been published. Keep working.

Good luck with this...Payment is usually dependent on the company.
I received 25$ for a very small submission in one newspaper, but in a different publication, I would have received 75$.

There are two trains of thoughts Symph...
...you can write an article first and then look up to see which magazine it might fit in or you can read the magazine and then write an article according to the subject matter in the mag. Hearing back from mags can take a long time. I sent two articles to magazines last October...articles I'd already written and one has been publised in 10 different magazines, all paying, and the other has been published in four so far. Not all magazines will reprint an article that has already been published. Two sources I use are: writersmarket.com (costs $2.99/monthUSD) and worldwidefreelance.com which costs $12.95USD/6 months. They list magazines, their writers guidelines and contact people who you send the articles to. I have had one article published for free but I wouldn't do it for free now. That one is one I sent in 3 years ago and about 6 months ago they sent me a copy of their calendar...my article was used for the Feb page...I had no idea they were even using it. Good luck Symph...hope some of this helps?

Payments really depend on the difficulty of your subject
and the magazine that accepts it....10USD for an article of 500 words which you can resell, is a good estimate:)hope that helps....

Hi. Glad somethings are promising for you. Payments depend on the editor/publication's discretion & also your country. I would guess in USD. Good luck.
Ann.
