maj, I may just fire her! Tonight she is chewing on my favorite house shoes

big leather things that used to belong to my son. Easy to slip on because they're a size 11. Now, they are chewed about the edges. I took it away, made her sit and listen to me yell at her. Gave her a dog biscuit later, for something to chew on and found her, five minutes later, chewing on the same shoe again. She is suicidal.

Just now, she climbed up on my other desk, where I had put the slippers up out of the way, got her favorite chewed upon shoe and threw it at my feet!!! Cone 10, I think...

no, maj stranger, the puppy who doesn't live here would eat the lights,
knock over the bowls of water and give me more reasons to want to kill her. Sigh....

I'm commentless...no, wait, here it comes...

can you put some sort of little lights out at night near the ground where the dogs won't eat them? That will attract insects away from your house, and if they are cloe to tall grass or shrubs, maybe attract more lizards, toads, etc. If there is a light or white colored saucer under them, more light will be relfected and draw more bugs. If the saucer has water, some wil fall in and not fly away...but the lizards etc will then lose out.

I remember flies being a real pain when it rained in the desert.

InspiredPoet, well, I thank you for taking the time to read my About Me

page. I see it as my only real job now, making childhood full and different from life with mommy and daddy, being their abuelita. It is the small things that go unnoticed now, so I must point them out or they will go unseen forever in their lives.

Abuelitas Rule..........

You are one talented lady to see the glory even in the "small" things.  Things, which in reality aren't small at all but which make up the very fabric of our lives.  I read your about me page, and being a Grandma too, I know what you mean about leaving a legacy of love.  Love of self, others, and books!  Write on! It's beautiful!

Peony, the little beasties out there are not so little. Think about how a

smaller insect must feel when the spidey stumbles upon him with hunger in his heart!

I turn on the light inside my window and all the tiny insects come and throw themselves against that window. Then, a darling family of tiny lizards comes out as a group and they eat at the buffet that I created. Fun to watch.

When the garden comes to visit
My daughter was visiting and taking pictures of the sunset and so on. She came in after and uploaded the pictures and was showing us how cute her cat looked after being trimmed like a poodle (a long haired and very matted cat who will not let herself be brushed) and then the sunset and then this spider that was crawling up the outside of a window.  The spider was huge -- its body was about an inch in diameter.  I thought it was a photo she had taken at her house but it was a photo from my back yard!!  I think this spider was unleashed when I dug up the weeds in the garden and was trying to get inside for shelter.
