I know it's Alberto because that's one of my specialties as an antique dealer. I have a book of most of the pinups he did in Playboy. I was selling them piecemeal, but now I'm thinking of selling the book for a set price.
He also did the cover of a Bernadette Peters 45 single, believe it or not. He's also really famous for his work on the Cars album "Candy O"

Exactly
He started at Esquire, then sort of fell into Playboy, and took off in a big way. All of the bio stuff I've read on him says he was asked to change his name and I assumed it was for other reasons. I still do. I work for national publications. A writer/photographer doesn't sell his name to a publication, just use of the work.

We have several Varga and Vargas....the Varga are Esquire Magazine
pieces...they actually owned that name. He was Vargas for Playboy, as he had been when he started out - we have one Ziegfield. He was in his 60's when he started with Playboy. He was a great artist.

One Varga, two Vargas...

Having no back issues and an insufferable ego, I'll grant you "Alberto" (even before the link above). Antonio Vargas is an actor.

Alberto Vargas...but oddly enough, they made him change his name. It as Varga. It's a big change, isn't it.

Terpgirl30, this reminds me of the Body Worlds show which features plastinated bodies which reveal different organs. The body which reveals what smoking does to the lungs would probably persuade most smokers to kick the habit. I could have provide a link but I am not sure you want to see it. I saw this show and I haven't forgotten it
