Factorfiction, it has been a while since I have looked into this...
You might look around for ESP fairs or something along those lines, where schools and teachers put themselves on display and usually let you sample their energies, their product, so to speak, so you can see and narrow the field for yourself.
I believe TM is still taught. I don't know of CDM has any offshoots in the Northeast. I used to make trips out that way to teach and do sessions, a few years ago. The information I had to share seemed to be eagerly received by folks who were looking for just that sort of thing, but I don't know that anyone has gone further than personal study and use.
There are so many ways into spiritual self-discovery... even 'wrong' directions teach something of significance, and our own guidance keeps us from going too far from our own path for very long. Whatever long may be, speaking in spiritual terms...
