fw, guess some of us are listening
to the rest of the world, even if the Bushies aren't

Cyn, these methods are actually part of the Kyoto Protocol ...
something the Republicans refused to endorse on account it would hurt the economy. Complying with the treaty was actually as simple as agreeing to start a recyclying program. That's why so many cities have agreed to comply, despite the administration's wishes.

telynor, I love writing about NYC
because I know you're there now and will relate...

Ah yess, that particular stench that hits the City on a hot August day! Very few things can smell so vile, and even the rats are unhappy. One of the reasons why so many NY'er's flee come summer to go somewhere else.

Hi Ginnie, I agree, there is a long
way to go, that's why i thought this report was almost too good to be true.

Well Cynthia...that is good news...
..though I am constantly appalled that there is no recycling at so many fast food and coffee shops here! Home in Canada during this last month I noted how many more places have a spot to stash coffee cups, cans, bottles and plastic for recycling. In TO my daughter was telling me that they've distributed compost recycling boxes to all homes so now they have blue boxes and green boxes. She said that she and her boyfriend throw out so very little 'garbage' each week. It is good to hear the positive stories here in the US but seems to me there is still a long way to go.
