hi

diet is critical for people with depression tendencies...I have battled depression all my life.  Limit sugar.

Sugar and alcohol make me depressed AFTER I ingest them, and the next day.  Increase whole grains, they make a huge difference for me.  An easy way is to buy flax seed and grind it in a coffee grinder, keep it in the frig because it gets stale fast.  Add it to homemade muffins, bread, etc.  Can be sprinkled on ice cream, yogurt.  I like it mixed with no sugar Mountain Brand plain yogurt.  I like the texture.

Dry roasted almonds, no salt for me, make a difference with regulating blood sugar.  Eat a small handful late morning at late afternnon and before bed. Tuna and salmon helps depression.  I am not on any drugs at the time.  Some anti anxiety drugs actually cause depression.  CRazy, huh?

I have found for me (but ask your doctor) that 50-100 mil of Co-Q10 (an herbal thing) really helps.  It has to be taken every day.  I notice a difference after only a few days.

Depression is tough to fight--good luck.  But honestly, when I eat right, I feel human.

Increase whole grains.

EAt fresh fruit.

Eat raw or steamed vegetables.  (If not allergic, you could try vegie juice)

Almonds or other nuts.

Good luck...here's another penny....

Nurture youself , you deserve it
Wheat might be a problem too. A friend of mine has thyroid problems and the diet that suits her best is meat or fish and lots of fresh vegies. However I'm not sure whether hers is under or over active.

See a dietician, do some internet research about the problem. There are some really good medical sites about. A good diet will help you feel more lively.

Also develop an exercise program that suits your fitness level and lifestyle. Just going for a brisk 20 minue walk in the park every day really helps.

If you have to eat ceral buy one with some dried furit and nuts in it and no added sugar. Then you are getting much better nutrition and you will start to feel better

Start doing positive little things for yourself every day. life is good.
