If you think that's an unlikely combination, kingmi ...
the next group of quotes includes both Emily Dickinson and Howard Stern.

Madame

I am falling asleep at this point, but I will certainly look it up in the morning...I am extremely interested at this point.

Madame,

While I am a fan of his work, I know little about the man himself.  I'll definately make a point of reading that!

The interesting thing about that quote, Military Wife, is who said it...
(Tennessee Williams) and how he ultimately died. (See my earlier post, "Extinguished Novelists")

I love this one

Death is but one moment, and life is so many of them."

I have always said, that when I die I want a party to celebrate my life versus a funeral to mourn my death.  It only takes a moment to life but it takes a lifetime to live.  Celebrate the lifetime.

Thank you, Whacky46.
Basketball coach Bob Knight actually expressed similar sentiments (to your mother's).

My mom wanted to be burried face down
so that the folks who never came around while she was sill alive could kiss her....well you can guess.
Some gret qutes here.

i knew that. something in the name of the blog gave it away. lol
i guess those just hit the spot today. thanx

That's a good question, Maerdi. To be honest...
I had never heard of him, either. Apparently, he's a dispenser of humorous quotes of some sort. Beyond that ... I'd ask renigade.

posted by Mademoiselle on August 9, 2005 at 9:54 PM | link to this | reply

OK -
who is Will Shriner? Hilarious!

Will Shriner cracks me up. Great quotes...

Of course, death is pretty much ...
always the theme here, Vane.

what a day for death quotes. they're all great, and i guess it's okay that death has been theme in everything today. It seems appropriate for when someone dies

Last quotes are among the most controversial and supposedly the best. Many terminally ill patients can't even speak, much less, give a quote.

Congrats on your win. I'll be clicking here another 2 times. Your counter will tell!

Ben.

Hey, Silly!
(Wasn't sure if you'd ever comment here again.) Anyways, my favorite George Burns quote is:

"At my age, having sex is like trying to play pool with a rope."

I've always liked hearing quote for Gorege Burns, it's seems the more he talked about death, the longer he lived, the bigger his cigar got. ~Silly

I was actually saving that quote for the next batch, Unidentified Hacker.
So, thanks for ruining it now! (Just kidding ... I have a million of them.)

Oh, and, I appreciate the compliment (concerning my hotness).

Makes me appreciate...
death more, too, Ben.

I was practically "weaned" on Stalin, as well, Vibrance ...
my family being Russian, and all.

I agree, MiaElla.
I quote that quote quite often. Though, I word it slightly differently.

YOU'RE HOT!

Madame

Couldn't pass these up (I’m a big quote guy)

“Life is better than death, I believe, if only because it is less boring, and because it has fresh peaches in it.” – Alice Walker

“I'm not afraid to die, I just don't want to be there when it happens.” –Woody Allen

"A single death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic." ~ Joseph S
Staline was invoked so often in my household, my dad being hungarian. I thought that he was my uncle. Good Ol'uncle Joe. Love, Vib

If I had my way, I'd go the Woody Allen route.

Madame

My favorite is Garrison Keillor's quote...how true and how funny (in an ironic way)

The sad thing about dying is you never know how people really feel about you....

You certainly don't have to apologize for it!
I don't know how to post pics, either. Speaking of which ...

Someone acknowledge how hot I am! (Photo link in my "about me" page.)

I'm just playing ... kinda.
