to be anything else, we must first have a reason.

i see what you are saying and you have a point. yet, what i am referring to is something beyond what we can create here for ourselves, using our 'knowledge'. accepting that struggle is inevitable does not have to exist, unless we believe it does. winning at the expense of another having something taken away creates a collective sorrow in the mind of humanity, which then feels compelled to resolve. problems do not exist, but in the mind, where perception has been of reality has been skewed. the world does not make us who we are. we are more than our minds and bodies. thanks for the comment, white jedi. your presence here is appreciated.

I have to disagree that there are no winners and losers in life. First you have to understand that my definition of "winning" is extremely personal. I would say that people who are able to retire young because they saved all their life are winners. People who know how to make themselves financially free are winners. People who go after the career that is right for them are winners. Winning to me is having a life that is filled with excitement and energy. Losing is having a life full of regrets. Or never being true to yourself. While men are not "all-knowing", there is a kind of collective wisdom that people can benefit from. Taking advantage of good advice can help solve a personal problem. What I hate is when people depend on a mystical being to be "all knowing." They never learn to dig for helpful knowledge. Somebody else solves their problems. Thanks for the read. As always, thought provoking.

that's true. we expect love to be and act a certain way, and then rail against what we get. what's funny is that none of it is love to begin with!

thanks. we are lost in the mind's identification with the body. we think we are a body housing a spirit, but in fact we are spirit inhabiting human flesh.

yes, these passages from Jesus reflect eternal truth. it is clearly not of this world, but it is available to all those who are open to a new way of living.

the need to be right is the need to protect oneself, to defend what we believe is the source of who we are. being right is asserting our beliefs over others, and 'killing' them so that we might survive. belief systems are at the very root of violence.

it was a little more esoteric, i must admit. yet, the message endures. love is the great answer to the world's most complex problems, for they all reflect a lack of love in their origin. i was thinking about writing on what a highly evolved society would be like. to my amazement, it would be much like the Native Americans, or any other indigenous tribes that have lived before us.

1 Corinthians 13
Love
1If I speak in the tongues
[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,
[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

The effort to be right is to deny love - it's all about Ego. And there can be no true love, no unconditional love, where Ego is concerned. Great post!

Never thought of it that way, but I suppose that makes sense. Why IS IT so important to be right all the time?
